“Preach the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words.” – St. Francis of Assisi
While respecting every individual’s right to choose any religion or no religion at all, the Venverlohs believe the Christian church is called to share the good news of the Gospel, which is the basis of the Christian faith. The God of Christianity invites us to consider the free gift of salvation, which we can accept or reject. Concerning our need for salvation, the Bible recounts God’s invitation: “Come, let us reason together, says the Lord” (Isaiah 1:18). Alpha helps facilitate conversations among those who have questions about the Christian faith, with an open-minded and reasoning approach.
Alpha is an organization that equips churches, groups and individuals to share their faith with others through word as well as through deed. Through a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, the organization addresses common questions and objections head-on with the purpose of creating constructive one-on-one dialogues about Christianity.
Alpha supports evangelical conversations in formal and informal settings. Alpha sessions take place in churches, cafes and universities across the world. The topics are designed to engage and inspire conversation. The resources to initiate Alpha sessions are free.
Mehridith and Jon Venverloh became familiar with Alpha as newlyweds at their church and were drawn to the mission of the organization. The Venverlohs support Alpha worldwide through the Venverloh Family Foundation.
Alpha prepares Christians to have thoughtful conversations about their faith in non-threatening environments. By creating the discussions, Alpha equips Christians to spread the Gospel while thoughtfully responding to the many questions they will be asked about their faith.
